CMP Batteries, which is part of Exide Technologies, has introduced a unique product grading system - launched at IMHX in March 2007. Each of the company's core products has been awarded an energy and recyclability rating, based on DEFRA guidelines. Reference to this, in conjunction with CMP's 'whole life costs' calculator, can demonstrate to customers how they can save money over a five-year period - as well as helping to reduce their CO2 and carbon footprint. Described as 'solutions that won't cost the earth', CMP hopes that customers will use the clean, quiet power of its products to help minimise the global impact of their business.

The new FD80-160N diesel counterbalance from Mitsubishi has been designed as a rugged, heavyweight truck for tough workplaces - but that doesn't mean it can't be gentle on the driver and the environment. Common rail technology has been used - in combination with an electronically controlled fuel injection system, a turbo charger, an intercooler, exhaust gas recirculation and a positive crank case ventilation system - to generate high torque but low noise, emissions and fuel consumption. The entire drive train is manufactured in-house, for perfect compatibility, and the resulting quiet, smooth, low-vibration performance makes this truck a pleasure to drive or to be around.

The Acti-Trap™ diesel particulate filter system, with its 'active regeneration' strategy, reduces particulate matter in exhaust emissions by up to 95%, and at the same time lowers carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon levels by up to 99%. Both short and long term exposure to particulate matter can cause respiratory and cardiovascular illness and even death. Hydrocarbons cause watery eyes and nausea. Carbon monoxide is a dangerous toxic gas that interrupts the normal supply of oxygen to the body and puts at risk the vital functions of the heart, brain and other tissues. By minimising these pollutants, Acti-Trap™ helps improve the environment for all.

Hybrid drive technology makes the RX70 the cleanest and most fuel-efficient fork lift truck on the market. The emissions of the RX70 give it the lowest carbon footprint of any IC engine fork lift truck available today. Its unique variable displacement hydraulic pump greatly prolongs the life of the hydraulic oil. Together these innovations result in the lowest fuel consumption of any truck in its class. The RX70-25 consumes only 2.5 l/hr of fuel when measured against VDI 2198 (60 cycles). With the RX70, orange and silver is really green!
